When will the North Side Subway of Sealdah Metro be opened?

The passengers of the Eastern Railway coming from the Sealdah south side can reach the Sealdah station of the East-West Metro easily, but the passengers coming from the north side have a little difficulty reaching the metro station. The solution to that convenience has been prepared for the passengers of the north; an underground subway route has been created in a new way.

Earlier, the subway was there, a 10-metre-wide and 144-metre-long underground passage for passengers on the Sealdah North side to reach Sealdah Court and Koley Market, but the construction of the western side of the Sealdah metro station demolished a 64-metre section. After that, two years ago, considering the convenience of the passengers on the northern side, the work of connecting this underground line to the metro station started, and it was completed a couple of weeks ago. The length of this new underground route now stands at 80 metres, which will now be an advantage for the passengers. Those who will get down from the metro and catch the local train in the northern suburbs will also be able to go to the northern side if they come across this underground.

Although Metro officials did not specify when the services would be started. According to sources, metro officials have said that the underground route will be opened only if the number of passengers increases. This underground passage is more than a metre deep, so a ramp had to be built in some areas.

In addition, special arrangements have been made in the underground passage so that light and air can flow. There are also ways to rent multiple shops to increase the revenue of the metro. Metro officials consider that this northern underground route may become important for daily passengers in the future.
